Fergus Timmons, the Training Manager in the Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI), very kindly joined us at the cafe this month. Fergus talked to us about Family Carer Training and some of the other services offered by the ASI.

Family Carer Training

This is a six week course aimed at supporting family members who are caring for loved ones with Dementia.  A face-to-face and on online version of the course are provided. The content of both is the same and it includes:

  • Looking After Yourself as a Carer
  • Accessing Information.

The face-to-face course consists of six sessions, which are held on a monthly basis, usually in the evenings. Each session lasts 2.5 hours. Although primary caregivers will get first priority, the course is open to everyone who is interested in taking part.
