Our second speaker at the March 2017 Cafe was Bibliana Savin from SAGE – a support and advocacy service for older people under the umbrella of the Third Age Organisation (for more details click here). SAGE sees advocacy as the empowerment of people to ensure that they can articulate their needs and have their voices heard, either through themselves, or by someone else on their behalf. Support can involve building a relationship of trust and friendship. It can also involve organising services and Circles of Support.

Bibliana has acted as a liaison person between SAGE, statutory services and wider community groups, seeking to promote and enhance the role of older people at a social and practical level within their own community.
